(June 7, 2021) — Groth Vineyards & Winery has released the Oakville Neighbors Series, a new portfolio of limited-production, single-vineyard Cabernet Sauvignons sourced from distinguished grower-partners who have helped make the Oakville AVA one of the most highly regarded appellations in Napa Valley. Coinciding with the Groth family’s 40th year of growing grapes and making Cabernet Sauvignon in the Oakville AVA, the Oakville Neighbors Series is only available directly through the winery tasting room, wine club and website (Grothwines.com). The three wines in this initial release are priced at $75 each.“The Oakville Neighbors Series is a platform for exploring the incredible diversity of Oakville Cabernet,” President & CEO Suzanne Groth said. “The wines tell stories about this place we call home, narratives about the land and vineyards, and also the people who have believed in, shaped and brought to prominence the Oakville AVA.”Groth’s Oakville Neighbors Series debuts with three single-vineyard Cabernet Sauvignons from the 2018 vintage. “These are winery-driven wines, that is, small lots from the 2018 vintage that presented themselves in the cellar,” Groth said. “The vineyard sources for the series may or may not change from vintage to vintage. The only parameter is that each wine stand on its own as a distinct expression of the Oakville appellation.”The 2018 wines in the Oakville Neighbors Series are sourced from grower-partners with whom the Groth family has had long relationships, reaching back as far as 35 years or more. The names of the wines are fanciful, homages to the growers vs. the names of the vineyards themselves.2018 Lincoln Creek Cabernet SauvignonThe Lincoln Creek Cabernet Sauvignon comes from a vineyard owned by Ren Harris, sometimes referred to as the “grandfather of Oakville,” and his wife, Marilyn. Harris, who has farmed in Oakville since the 1970s, guided Dennis and Judy Groth to their Oakville Estate in the early 1980s. The vineyard is on the west side of Oakville at the base of the Mayacamas mountain range.2018 Joe’s Spade Cabernet SauvignonJoe’s Spade comes from a vineyard owned by the Taddei family, with whom the Groths have a long history as the sole purchaser of their fruit. Farmed today by Kara Taddei, Joe’s granddaughter, the 20-acre vineyard is on the west side of Oakville. The wine’s name references the Taddei family logo that appears on their grape bins.2018 Game Trail Cabernet SauvignonThe Groth family has worked with well-known vineyard manager Alex Vyborny, whose family owns the vineyard which is the source for the Game Trail Cabernet Sauvignon, for over 30 years. Farmed by Vyborny and his son, Ben, the vineyard is in the southeast corner of the Oakville AVA along the Silverado Trail, directly across from the Rector Reservoir Dam. This is a prized area of Oakville, with prestigious neighbors and crumbly, red iron soils sloughed off the Vaca Mountain range to the east.About Groth Vineyards & WineryDennis and Judy Groth made a life-changing investment in 1981 when they bought a vineyard on Oakville Cross Road, in the heart of Napa Valley, with hopes it would produce world-class Cabernet Sauvignon. It didn’t take long for their intuition to be proven right. Robert Parker of the Wine Advocate gave the Groth 1985 Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon the distinction of being the first 100-point U.S. wine.Today, with Dennis and Judy’s daughter, Suzanne Groth, as President & CEO, Groth sustainably farms two estates totaling 165 acres with the dual goals of producing the highest-quality, most elegant wines we can while caring for our estate for future generations. The winery produces critically acclaimed Cabernet Sauvignon, Sauvignon Blanc and Chardonnay.Tastings are available daily from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. by appointment. AMSTERDAM – Unheralded Callum Shinkwin shot five birdies and an eagle Thursday on his way to a 6-under 66 and a one-shot lead after the first round of the 100th edition of the KLM Open. The 26-year-old British golfer is ranked No. 446 and hasn’t made the cut in his last three tournaments since the British Open as he struggled with illness and a back injury. But he started with a birdie on the second hole and an eagle on the third, before making his lone bogey on No. 5. He finished with two more birdies on Nos. 16 and 18 to sit one shot clear of a group of seven players, including Gavin Green. Full-field scores from the KLM Open Sergio Garcia was among eight players sitting two shots behind Shinkwin. Joost Luiten, who won this tournament in 2013 and ’16, started badly with three bogeys in his outward nine holes before making six birdies on his back nine to leave him level with defending champion Ashun Wu and seven others on 69.
The Globe and Mail: “For the past 100 years or so, psychologists have supported the notion that all humans have the same set of basic biological emotions,” says Psych Central News. “But a new paper in Current Directions in Psychological Science challenges this belief and holds that some of our established security procedures may be misguided. In her article, clinical psychologist Dr. Lisa Feldman Barrett of Northeastern University said a current method to train security workers to recognize ‘basic’ emotions from expressions might be ill-advised, potentially placing individuals at risk. ‘What I decided to do in this paper is remind readers of the evidence that runs contrary to the view that certain emotions are biologically basic, so that people scowl only when they are angry or pout only when they are sad,’ said Dr. Barrett.Read the whole story: The Globe and Mail More of our Members in the Media >
SOCCER By KEVIN TEME GOALKEEPER and captain Alken Karapa was a stand out for West Tribe FC despite going down 2-0 to Hekari United FC in the elimination finals of the Kumul Petroleum National Soccer League challenge in Port Moresby on Saturday. Down 2-0 at the break, West Tribe put on tremendous effort to hold Hekari United FC to a scoreless second half despite making a couple of raids into their territory, thanks to the courageous effort of Karapa who made a couple of classic saves on at least five would-be goals from Hekari United FC. He also became the fans favourite attributing to his outstanding performance against more experienced side like Hekari United. Hekari United FC coach Jerry Allen praised West Tribe FC for putting up a strong challenge against the visitors. However, he said the victory came through hard work despite having bulk of the players joining the camp after returning from national training camp in Lae. “All our boys were out and they had to join the team few days before the game. But I think they all worked hard for it to win the game,” Allen said. The former NSL champions were fired up in the opening minutes with Solomon Island recruit Tutizama Tanito scoring the opening goal from a penalty in the first 20th minute before Kolu Kepo pushed the lead further with the second goal in the 27th minute to make it 2-0. But that was all, Hekari United had to be content with the two goals as their efforts were in vain and could go past the gloves of Karapa. PNG Football Association president John Kapi Natto and Police Commissioner Gari Baki who were present to watch the match, praised West Tribe FC for putting up a good challenge. Kapi Natto, who returned from Auckland, New Zealand, said the home side would have scored more goals had it not been for the goalkeeper who saved five attempts on target. “He (Karapa) did well for his side. He wasn’t trained by any goal keeper expert. He has taught himself to be a goalie and he did really well today (Saturday). These are all my boys from home and I am proud of them,” Hekari United Football Club captain David Muta said. Muta, who later went to meet the West Tribe FC players, coach and management encouraged the boys to stay intact and keep training hard. “This is a new beginning for you all. You started now and don’t look back. Stay together as a unit and go back and train hard and you will get there one day,” Muta said while encouraging the West Tribe FC boys.
As Juventus prepare to attempt the signing of some youngsters in the summer market, it seems that Manchester United are a concern in the battle for two of their targets. It’s Tuttosport who makes a list of players wanted by the Old Lady, and the Red Devils get two mentions: one for Matthijs De Ligt and other for Tanguy Ndombélé.The Ajax player is said to be Juventus’ priority target for their defence, but the club isn’t expecting an easy run to get him.Tuttosport says that his agent, Mino Raiola, will be managing a big auction in the summer market, with the Dutch side demanding at least €60m for the player.Embed from Getty ImagesRegarding Ndombele, what Tuttosport says is that Juventus have a good relationship with Lyon, and that could give them an advantage against other clubs, including Manchester United. There’s no mention of how much the player would cost for now, but it’s made pretty clear that the Old Lady are making an attempt for the midfielder. In both cases, there’s a fear Manchester United could prove a big problem.by Taboolaby TaboolaSponsored LinksSponsored LinksPromoted LinksPromoted LinksTrending TodayForge of Empires – Free Online GameIf You Like to Play, this Game is a Must-HaveForge of Empires – Free Online GameUndoRaid: Shadow Legends | Free DownloadEven Non-Gamers Are Obsessed With This RPG Game (It’s Worth Installing!)Raid: Shadow Legends | Free DownloadUndoDating.comFind out where single guys are hanging out in Tung ChungDating.comUndoKeto减肥1個簡單的妙招一夜「融化」腹部贅肉（今晚試試）Keto减肥UndoCNBC InternationalHere’s How Big Businesses in Singapore Are Managing the Impact of COVID-19.CNBC InternationalUndo熱門話題小心會長過頭…網友推爆:「真的長得超誇張!」熱門話題UndoSingles50Hong Kong: A 40+ Dating Site That Actually Works!Singles50UndoCoworking Space | Search AdsThe cost of shared office in Hong Kong might surprise youCoworking Space | Search AdsUndoInstant Voice TranslatorGenius Japanese Invention Allows You To Instantly Speak 43 LanguagesInstant Voice TranslatorUndo
