ShareTweetShareShareEmailCommentsThe two Polish teams PGE Vive Kielce and Orlen Wisla Plock have decided to boycott the new big sponsor of the VELUX EHF Champions League – Nord Stream 2.Nord Stream 2 is a project of Russian Oil company who is making a pipeline at the bottom of Baltic Sea.The Polish champions PGE Vive Kielce stated last Saturday that players will cover Nord Stream logo during match in Veszprem, but also logo of their sponsor PGE. In today’s EHF Velux Champions League match against the Telekom Veszprem HC team, PGE VIVE Kielce handball players will appear in match shirts with covered logos of companies: Nord Stream 2, which sponsored the Champions League matches, and PGE SA, club’s titular sponsor. The above decision was made as a result of the Sponsor’s talks with the Club. The European Handball Federation was informed about the above decision. At the same time, the club is analyzing the possibilities of taking legal steps that will allow to develop a long-term solution to this matter. Until then, the Club will not comment on the above situation.In another Oil company which support Wisla Plock, Orlen, this project of Nord Stream calling “controversial”.Nord Stream 2 is a planned pipeline through the Baltic Sea, which will transport natural gas over some 1,230 km from the world’s largest gas reserves in Russia via the most efficient route to consumers in Europe. Nord Stream 2 will largely follow the route and technical concept of the successful Nord Stream Pipeline.Nord Stream 2 will be present in the competition for the next two seasons using their slogan EHF Champions League powered by Nord Stream 2.
