PICO RIVERA — A trip to Mexico to pay final respects to a beloved grandfather turned into tragedy for a Pico Rivera family over the weekend when a van carrying them and several other relatives flipped on a highway outside of Ciudad Juarez Mexico. Eight of the 11 passengers traveling in the van, including Isaac Resendiz, 3, Erick Anthony Resendiz, 10 and a fourth-grader at Rio Vista Elementary School, and their father David Resendiz, all of Pico Rivera, were killed in the accident. The incident left behind one surviving family member in Pico Rivera, Gloria Herrera, wife to David and mother to the two boys.
